Peru is an amazing country, but one thing I would not recommend doing is traveling there specifically for Machu Picchu. While it is a special place, Machu Picchu is crowded, expensive, and just one of many things to see and experience in Peru. If you are planning a trip to see the country of Peru, by all means, set aside enough time to visit Machu Picchu, but don’t make it your sole reason for the trip.
